Leave No Trace Expeditions: Trips to World's Most Remote Mountains
I entered the Alpine program of the Alpine Federation of Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (R BiH) in the 1980’s. Under the watchful eyes of mentors, I completed 5 years of training in rock climbing and mountaineering. Also, I completed winter climbing courses in Montenegro (Mt. Durmitor) and Slovenia (Tamar Valley). Upon completion of my program and 200 winter and summer routes, I became a registered alpinist (badge #112) with the Alpine Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During 12 years of active climbing in Europe, I climbed in Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Poland, Slovakia and Italy.
After the civil war in Bosnia, in 1996, I immigrated to Canada. Immediately, I joined the Alpine Club of Canada and served two seasons as Skills Development Executive for the Alpine Club of Canada Vancouver Section. My favorite North American climbs, ski descents, and scrambles include the Australian Couloir on Joffre Peak/Whistler BC, North Face of Ironman/Adamant Range near Golden BC, ski descents on Mt. Adams/WA USA and Mt. St. Helens/WA USA, day ascents of Mt. Baker/WA USA, Mt. Hector and Rogers Peak/Canadian Rockies, and Devils Tongue/Silver Skagit Valley WA USA.
The most serious expedition I attempted was West Buttress of Mt. McKinley (Denali)/Alaska in 2008.
